Way Forward with MTN Self Service

MTN is one of Africa’s telecommunications network providers. It has once again been recognised as the best mobile network in South Africa, according to the latest Mobile Network Quality Report by MyBroadband.

The MTN mobile network has improved its services over the years. Subscribers are able to do more without being dependent on call centre assists. Below is a list of    basic USSD codes for MTN subscribers

  1. For the Master Menu dial *141*0#, it’s a free service.
  2. For Balance Enquiry dial 141#, it’s a free service.
  3. To Buy MTN products dial *141*2#, it’s a free service.
  4. For MTN Me2U services dial *141*3#, it’s also a Free service
  5. To Change Price Plan dial *141*4#, it’s a Free service

  11. For ExtraTime services dial *141*2# then select option 7, however, this requires a subscriber to have been with MTN for over three months before borrowing airtime from this mobile network.

MTN customers are already enjoying the benefits of the company’s new vision and even though MTN hiked prices in July, they seem to be limiting the number of customers calling in at the call centre.

Where to Grab the Best Grub in the Mother City

Cape Town is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world, and this shows not only through the different nationalities of people who call the city their home  but through the vast array of restaurants serving up cuisine from every corner of the globe.

Are you planning a holiday to Cape Town really soon? You can think about where you want to eat before you go, as there are so many restaurants to choose from, and you may need a plan in order to fit all of them in.

We have put together a short list of three different cuisines, giving you an idea of where you may want to book a table:

Eastern Food Bazaar – Cape Town

An authentic Cape Town experience awaits at our buzzing canteen-style eatery. From Turkish kebabs to Cape-style biryanis, creamy North Indian curries and real tandoor dishes, the whole spice spectrum from Bombay to the Bo-Kaap is covered and deliciously so behind several counters.

It came with some traditional cookies which were made in house and tasted so good.

Rootis Cape Malay Restaurant

Rooti’s Cape Malay Restaurant is a very popular dining venue at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. They offer dishes that a full of flavour and are prepared in the traditional Cape Malay fashion. During the summer you can sit outside and enjoy some of their most popular dishes: rootis, denningvleis, smoorsnoek and koeksisters. Rooti’s is fully Halaal. In keeping with Cape Malay customs, the cuisine is halal and no alcohol is served. The surprise about the dishes is that signature curries are much milder than recipes from south-east Asia

Medical Health Care in South Africa

Medical health in South Africa is one of the main issues that we have to face on a day to day bases as South Africans. Public hospitals and clinics are overwhelmingly full while private medical care is skyrocketing expensive.  Around 80% of South Africans use public healthcare, while other people take out private health insurance schemes, which range from basic emergency service cover to full medical plans. The benefits of medical aid can be best appreciated when you need it most. However, you need to understand what your medical aid cover offers. Trust me, understanding medical aid benefits can be tricky at times.

Understanding Medical Aid Benefits

  • Day to Day Benefits is the day to day medical care provided to you and your family by a medical practitioner. These benefits usually include GP visits, specialist services, basic radiology, pathology, allied health services, physiotherapy, occupational therapy.
  • Hospital Benefits is the hospitalisation medical care provided to you and your family. This includes hospital stay, nurse’s services, medically necessary medications, X-rays, supplies, appliances, and equipment the hospital provides

With private healthcare you can either have a hospital cover that has day to day benefits or a hospital cover. It’s very important that you understand your plan and what it provides

What an Itchy Scalp Means & How to Get Rid of It Naturally

itchy scalp South Africa

An itchy scalp is often the result of a number of conditions and contributing lifestyle factors, it’s the most uncomfortable things one can ever experience and it’s also a sign you have an underlying scalp condition. Dealing with an itchy scalp is something no girl wants to deal with, it can come out of nowhere and can really spoil your day.

Here are five ways to deal with an itchy scalp

  1. Washing your hair often is one of the best ways of dealing with an itchy scalp
  2. Using apple cider vinegar on your hair also helps
  3. Keeping your hair moisturized with coconut oil and liquid paraffin helps
  4. Using banking powder paste on your hair for dandruff and cuts
  5. Using aloe vera gel on your hair also eliminates itchiness

A burning and itching scalp can result from any number of inflammatory skin conditions, such as dandruff, fungal infection, psoriasis or eczema. Therefore, take it easy on of hats or wigs as much as possible; overdoing it can cause a lack of oxygen to the scalp and cause a variety of scalp problems.

Choose Happiness This Year

It’s a new year and a good time to start with new things. Over the years I have learned that life is too short, so you need to spend it with people who make you laugh and make you feel loved. Being happy is a serious business, it’s more than just a state of mind as many researcher would say.  Happiness is the greatest life blessing, when you are happy every other thing your life fall in place. In this new year, finding true happiness with self would be a good place to start. Happiness lengthens our lives, an emerging research shows that being happier doesn’t just make you feel better — it actually brings a host of potential health benefits, like it improves severe long-term health conditions, relieves stress and much more.

How To Find True Happiness

Inner Peace

Mother Teresa once said “true peace begins with a smile”, which I find to be true, inner peace is real freedom and it leads to true happiness. However, the journey toward inner peace begins with the most overlooked treasure of all, and that is you. It all begins with you.

Forgiveness

Forgiveness is not something you do for the other person, forgiveness is something you do for yourself, therefore, it will benefit you to forgive people even when they don’t apologise and not because they you are stupid or they deserve it but because you value your peace.

Positive Mindset

A positive mind is the first step to happiness. Life has its ups and downs but they come and go because nothing is meant to be permanent. Having a positive mental attitude, it takes choices and if you choose to remain positive, then the happier you will become. Remember that continually focusing on the negative can hinder the ability to find the positive and live a happy life.

You don’t need to conduct a major life overhaul to be happy in 2019. Small changes to your daily routine can go a long way. Every life experience holds a blessing, lesson, or reason to celebrate. The goal is to find it but don’t lose yourself in the process. The objective of all this is to have a happy life.

South African Made Ranger Raptor specs for Europe revealed

Although several markets are expecting the Ford Ranger in 2019, the Ranger Raptor remains the talk of the town. An almost mini edition of the revered F-150 Ford Raptor, the Ranger Raptor is believed to be a more accessible version of the monster pick-up. Both Asia and Europe are expecting the release early next year. Asian specifications were long revealed through the European market’s specs have just been unveiled.

The Ford Ranger Raptor is available in diesel only and is set to have a whopping horsepower output of 210. We can expect 500 Nm of torque from the vehicle which is expected to cause a stir among bakkie lovers worldwide. There have been reports of a significant towing capacity of around 2500kg for the Ranger Raptor, proving that the vehicle is every bit as strong as it looks. At a figure of 28cm, the Raptor far surpasses the ground clearance of the regular Ford Ranger. The strong steel bash plate is 2cm thick; making sure the truck is ready for a great degree of high-speed, high-endurance duty. The Ford Ranger Raptor is also notably wider than the standard Ranger, with an extra 15cm for added stability.

On the tech side, the Ford Ranger Raptor has an exceptional terrain management system (hooray for Baja mode), ensuring the truck is ready for off-road pretty much all the time. The most standout feature is, of course, the sheer build of the vehicle. Fashioned on the F-150, the Ford Ranger Raptor is a vision. Its road presence is bound to have people excited. The launch color, Lightning Blue has been a visually stimulating lead, though we personally can’t wait to see this bad boy in Red.

The vehicle, which is the first of its kind manufactured in South Africa, is not scheduled for sale in the African market just yet. Ford Ranger enthusiasts can hope for the best as the market for pickup trucks strengthen in the region. Just last year the Ford Ranger was not only the second most purchased bakkie, but it was also the second most purchased vehicle in South Africa for 2017. The demand for vehicles of this caliber is expected to rise, making the likes of the Ford Ranger Raptor a fitting upgrade for the bakkie drivers among us.

Mini Makeover for Mazda’s CX-5 Line-up

A makeover may be a bit of a stretch but the popular Mazda SUV is set for a new entry in the middle of the range. A 2.0 Individual 4-wheel drive model is joining the local CX-5 family, bringing the line-up to an impressive 8 variants for the South African market. There is more on offer with this derivative, giving interested buyers an affordable option with a better spec package. In addition to the new entry, the existing 2.5l petrol engine CX5 Individual model is fitted with all-wheel-drive though this is accompanied with a price jump of around R40 000.

Mazda has seen considerable levels of growth over the past few years, particularly since its marriage with Ford ended in 2014. Investing in the domestic market after regaining its distribution rights for Southern Africa was the first step towards changing the South African view of Mazda. Since then the company has seen an increase in popularity and the sales figures are there to show for it. During the 2017-2018 fiscal year, the company reflected its highest recorded vehicle sales since its independence. The likes of the CX-5 and Mazda 3 have been flagged as the biggest sellers, contributing to atleast half of the sales volume. The increasing demand for Sport Utility Vehicles means the CX-5 is probably going to be a smooth sailor for a while. Its striking design, competent mechanics and affordability set it apart from others in its class. The CX-5 is a gem that keeps increasing in value.

The Mazda CX-5 is available in three different trims, each with their own variations in terms of transmission and engine type. The entry level Active, mid-range Dynamic and range topping Individual make up the local range. The new entry may not be the top of the range vehicle but it is decked out with the luxury expected of an Individual derivative SUV. Standard features are plentiful across Individual models, offering a power tailgate, power adjustable front seats, Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Departure Warning and an impressive Bose 10 speaker sound system. These features are accompanied by the extensive range of standard CX-5 inclusions. Think cruise control, keyless start, a awesome infotainment system and auto headlights.

The Mazda CX-5 range includes 6-speed gearboxes in either manual or automatic. In terms of power, the figures stay the same. The naturally aspirated 2-l petrol engine produces around 121kW of power and 213Nm units of torque. Its 2.5l equivalent is slightly superior with 143kW of power and 258Nm of torque. The most torque is provided from the turbo-diesel engine however, which at 2.2l provides 140kW of power and a whopping 450Nm of torque.

Mazda’s CX-5 has already proved itself in our market and we imagine the range newbie be no exception to this.

Labia Contouring – This hottest surgical trend of the season?

Labiaplasty, or labia contouring as it is sometimes referred to, is a procedure which reduces or reshapes the labia. The labia is essentially the vaginal lips which cover the clitoris and the vaginal opening. Though there is no ‘standard’ when it comes to the shape and size of the labia, many women experience daily difficulty as a result of prolonged labia minora (inner) or majora (outer). Rectification of longer or asymmetrical labia can be conducted by means of a labiaplasty which is performed by a gynaecologist who is skilled in aesthetics or by a plastic surgeon.

Reasons that women opt to undergo labia contouring include discomfort during sexual intercourse & exercise as well as frequent infections and itchiness. Sometimes women simply wish to alter the area for purely cosmetic purposes, as they experience a severe lack of self-esteem and sexual confidence. If you are interested in what the procedure entails, a qualified professional will talk you through the process. Many specialists resolve to only perform the procedure if they feel there is an adequate need for it. Any surgical procedure has risks and should only really be considered if there is a valid reason.

The procedure, which is more commonly conducted on the labia minora, is performed under local anaesthetic in an operating room. There are a number of ways a labiaplasty is conducted, the most frequently used being the trim or curvilinear technique, V-labiaplasty or central wedge resection and the de-epithelisation technique. A labiaplasty can take up to two hours to complete and patients are usually able to go home after the anaesthetic has worn off. Discomfort when sitting and when urinating can be expected as well as bloody discharge and some moderate bruising. The numbness has also been reported through this is usually temporary. Patients are also to avoid sexual intercourse for 6 weeks after the procedure.  The clitoral hood reduction may accompany the procedure as it is common for the clitoris to appear larger once the modifications to the labia have been made.

Women in South Africa are becoming increasingly interested in the treatment and as a result, access to a labiaplasty in Johannesburg and Cape Town is on the rise. It is essential that those looking to have the procedure done to consult with a qualified and experienced medical practitioner. The consequences of a poorly-executed surgical procedure are dire so avoid this by doing proper research and consulting with trusted specialists.

Labiaplasty treatment, among other aesthetic gynaecological treatments, is no stranger to controversy. Though it is important to acknowledge that labia can look very different and still be normal, women who seek to make small modifications to their labia should not be considered in a negative light. Taking control of your comfort and sexuality is empowering for a woman so should not be discouraged. Check out labialibrary.org for more insight into the wonderful world of female labia and prepare to be amazed at just how inclusive the range of ‘normal labia’ is.
